A Rowing Machine Benefits Your Body!
In terms of looking at the best overall exercise for your body, there is a huge amount of proof that a rowing machine benefits your body for pretty much for all of your life.
A rowing machine benefits not just adults, but children too, pensioners and men and women equally. In terms of proof one of the most popular rowing competitions around is the ongoing Concept 2 rowing class.
The Concept 2 is the worlds most popular stationary rowing machine, and has official ratified world records, as well as endless ongoing competitions around the globe. There is also an online database where a rower can input their time and distance covered to see how they compare to their peers.
A Rowing Machine Benefits All Ages!
The impressive thing is that the Concept 2 rower categories show how un-elitist rowing is, and that everybody really can get involved. Boys and Girls in the age range 7-9 are the minimum age entries for most competitions, whereas the senior age section actually goes up to the 80 plus age bracket! (and is keenly contested!).
Take into account all the ages, and weight categories for both sexes in between, and you have proof that rowing machine benefits pretty much everybody of whatever age, size, sex and level of physical fitness.
Because of the very low body impact of rowing, along with the fantastic personal health benefits, almost everybody can do it (see our post of Rowing Machine Benefits for the Top 10 positives to be gained from this fantastic sport).
A Rowing Machine Benefits With Few Injuries!
This is unlike many other sports where injuries are far more common. With this type of exercise you can go as fast or slow as you feel comfortable with, and for as long (or as little) as you want. As your stamina improves you will notice that the rowing machine benefits your health to a great degree.

Nice article. I’ve got a Concept 2 rower. My own rowing machine benefits are a bit limited at themoment as I have damaged my wrist (playing soccer..) I think the model d concept 2 is def best value rower, and 300 bucks cheaper than model e (which has a few bells and whistles extra).
Do you really use the rowers recommended on this website? Not many people use a waterrower
Yes! We have been rowing for over 20 years, and have used dozens of different machines, including virtually every model of the concept 2 over the past 20 years. I could email you a photo of my own lovely waterrower if you like!
You will get an advantage of higher muscle endurance just by rowing. I always recommend to my students that there are more good things in rowing than in most sports
The Concept2 Rowing Machine is easily the best rower. Some other good rowers on amazon just as expensive, but not as good as the concept 2 – so why do you recommend them?
Thanks for the comment. We have picked our very best 7 rowing machines for this website. All are excellent – there are dozens of poor machines we have ignored. We have clearly stated that we belive the concept 2 is the best rower, along with the waterrower, but some body shapes might fit our other choices. We also recommend the cheaper model concept 2 – go for the model e if you are really serious. There are also some rowers we recommend that are way cheaper than concept or waterower. Not everybody has $1,000 to spend!
Doing rowing thirty minutes a day will be effective to reduce your weight – its helped with mine. The Concept 2 Rowing Machine is my favourite rower, also will be a good selection for those who have back and knee problems.
