The whole setup and the air resistance are just similar to a real boat with the water resistance sensation. This is why this machine frequently becomes the option for rowing sportsmen – often very serious rowers – who need the speed and convenience of a great rower without heading to the water. Rowing legends such as Sir. Steve Redgrave (5 times Olympic Gold Medal Winner) has publically endorsed the Concept 2, saying that he “never managed to break it.. and it never let me down“).
The Concept 2 Rowing Machine benefits people who have back and knee problems. The machine is low impact, and has 10 different resistance settings that can be used to tailor an effective and suitable exercise program. This feature helps you to set your own resistance level so you can start with the simple one before moving to harder level as you progress and get fitter.
You will also find it handy to be supported with assorted online tools such as online world ranking as a personal motivation, an online logbook that will help you keep a detailed ongoing record of accomplishment, and plenty of other features which are including the work out of the day, information on where it’s possible to find indoor rower and rowing instructor near your place, and a lot more. Challenge yourself with the rowing challenges, distance awards, college and team standings, and performance monitor games which will generally make your exercise becomes more interesting. There are 2 main types you can choose from (although some older models are available if you buy second hand – look out for these as they can be very good value).
Rowing Machine Benefits & Disadvantages Of The Concept 2
There is only one real disadvantage to the Concept 2 rower. And that is basically it is an expensive item to buy. The Concept 2 has been tried and tested more than any other machine, and is loved by people all over the world. We think the cost is well worth it, as the Concept 2 is pretty much the perfect rowing machine – and is virtually unbreakable too. However, it must be noted that some other machines are far cheaper to buy.
The modern Concept 2 machine are based on a Model D and Model E Rowers which can sometimes be simply assembled with the tools and steerage from the construction manual. With a cost of between $900 – $1,400 (depending on the model type, and computer equipment supplied), you’ll get a complete pack of rowing machine. The Concept 2 now comes with a range of excellent software, with Internet ready features.
Please remember the model D is still a fantastic rower, even if it doesn’t have all of the extras of the model E. And it’s cheaper! You can buy it at a discounted price HERE
With the Model’s D & E you can add on a performance monitor which has already supplied with rechargeable battery pack, one log card, a USB connection cable, owner manual, a CD with PM4 compatible software, a Suunto Pulse Rate Chest Belt Transmitter, useful rowing strategies DVD, and even the chain oil. The Concept 2 Rowing Machine will be the answer for your need if you are looking for a top of the range, professional standard rowing machine. We love it!

As long as you use this machine regularly it pays for itself in no time. Don’t buy it if you are just going to stick it in the garage and forget about it though!
Thanks for the comment Randall. It is wise that you test out the Concept2 before you buy to make sure you like it. Make an exercise plan and stick to it, that way this machine will easily pay for itself. Plus the resale value for second hand concepts is excellent too, meaning you should be able to get a decent amount of money back in 5 or 10 years time if you decide to sell.
I have used the concept 2 at the gym for a couple of years now. I think its better even than the waterrower. Both are good machines though.
Hi Draven. We’ve used both machines for years. The waterrower looks great, even as a piece of furniture and can be stood up to save space. A great rower, but in our opinion the Concept2 (although not quite as pretty a piece of furniture!) is a slightly hardier and more accurate rower. Personal choice though as with everything!
Many thanks for this information, as well as the cheap link to buy the concept 2. Its a little pricey to buy, but I have been told that these machines last forever!
Thanks Rich. Even many old Concept2 models going back 10 & 15 years are still working fine. We would usually recommend a second hand Concept 2 as opposed to many brand new alternative machines. Plus if you go for something like the D model you will get it around $400 less than the latest model (which is basically the same, but with a few extra bells and whistles!). Regards
